Builders Association of North Central Indiana Announces 2024 Scholarship Recipients

The Builders Association of North Central Indiana (BANCI) is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 scholarships under the Travis McVicker Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is dedicated to supporting students from North Central Indiana who are committed to building a future in the construction industry.

About the Scholarship

The Travis McVicker Scholarship Fund honors a longstanding member of BANCI whose passion for the building industry has driven him to support the next generation of builders. Each scholarship is aimed at students pursuing education in fields directly related to the building industry, whether through degrees, certifications, apprenticeships, or approved classes.

Scholarship Awards

This year, each of the four deserving students has been awarded $1,000 to be used towards tuition and fees. These awards are given to support their studies and encourage their continued excellence in their respective fields. The recipients for this year are:

• Trace Stookey of Trine University, pursuing a degree in Engineering.
• Cory Hill also of Trine University, enrolled in the Business program.
• Dylan Barley of Ball State University, focusing on Architecture & Planning.
• Ty Brooks of Indiana State University, studying at the Baily College of Engineering.

Selection Criteria

Recipients were selected based on their academic achievements, prior work experience in construction technology, recommendations from faculty and employers, and their clear career objectives in the building industry. This rigorous selection process ensures that scholarships are awarded to individuals who are not only excelling academically but also demonstrating a strong commitment to their future careers in the construction industry.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be seniors in high school or older, in good academic standing, and legal residents of Fulton, Kosciusko, or Marshall counties. They must also be enrolled in a construction-related program. The Builders Association of North Central Indiana is proud to support students who are shaping their future with dedication and hard work in these fields.

For those interested in applying for the next cycle, applications are due by April 14, 2025. They can be submitted by mail or email to the BANCI Scholarship Fund and will be available here on the website and at each of our area schools guidance offices.
